The dollar rises above $4.50 against the Brazilian Real for the first time in history before closing at an all-time high of $4.48. The coronavirus was a factor but the Real was already at record lows under Bolsonaro. The dollar exceeding $4 was a major argument to impeach Dilma.
@SenSasse and I have joined a bipartisan group of senators in a letter to @SecretarySonny expressing our concerns over the @USDA 's decision to lift its ban on Brazilian beef imports. The U.S. halted imports of Brazilian raw beef in 2017 due to safety issues.
Less than three years ago, the U.S. suspended all Brazilian beef imports because of public health concerns. I’m concerned that the recent decision to lift this ban could lead to more issues and that these beef imports won’t be properly monitored.
