Bangladesh. Ukraine. Kansas. One day that’s going to be a clue on Jeopardy. #KansasCity  #ShowMeState

Do Americans care about Ukraine? Or was that Bangladesh? It's not me asking - it's Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who had a noisy tiff with veteran NPR reporter Marie Louise Kelly.

Pompeo says he "loves" our quiz. As the Secretary of State arrives in Kyiv to start off his four-country tour, take the Pompeo challenge and see if you know the difference between Ukraine and Bangladesh. Here's a preview:

@SecPompeo  asked if @NPRKelly  — a veteran national security correspondent — could find Ukraine on a blank map. (She did). He later released a statement accusing her of lying to him, ending it with: "It is worth noting that Bangladesh is NOT Ukraine."

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday responded to an NPR account that he lashed out after an interview and challenged a reporter to find Ukraine on a map. “It is worth noting that Bangladesh is NOT Ukraine," he said at the end of his statement.

Critics call BS after Pompeo indicates Mary Louise Kelly misidentified Bangladesh as Ukraine in his map challenge.

Pompeo, without any evidence, says NPR host 'lied' and mistook Bangladesh for Ukraine but doesn't dispute he cursed at her

@realDonaldTrump  So you're upset just because they showed that your Secretary of State can't tell the difference between Ukraine and Bangladesh?

Mr. @SecPompeo  , please provide evidence to support your contention that @NPRKelly  confused Bangladesh with Ukraine. Otherwise, your statement is disinformation, slander, and embarrassing to those of us who pay your salary. You are a public servant. You work for us.

I don’t know folks. I think it is entirely plausible that President Trump would confuse Bangladesh for Ukraine.

“Unhinged.” The notion that @NPRKelly  would confuse Ukraine with Bangladesh on a map is so ludicrous it doesn’t even merit comment. As for the other accusations, I trust our reporter. And as for “basic rules of decency”: well.

@NPRKelly  Pompeo also undermines his credibility on the facts of the episode in the statement. There is little chance @NPRKelly , a Cambridge-educated expert on Europe, would have pointed to Bangladesh if he asked her to identify Ukraine on an unlabeled map.
