When we met them it seemed like the whole world was holding its breath and now Richard Harris and Craig Challen have been named Australians of the Year for their role in saving 12 kids and their coach from a flooded cave in Thailand.

Adelaide's hero doctor Richard Harris and his Thai cave dive partner Craig Challen have been jointly named Australians of the Year. As always, the anaesthetist was extremely humble in accepting the award. Those details and more in 7 News at 6pm. #7News

#BREAKING Thai cave rescue medics Richard Harris and Craig Challen have been named joint 2019 Australians of the Year.

A privilege to congratulate Dr Richard Harris & Dr Craig Challen, the Australians who played such a vital role in the heroic Chiang Rai rescue. Both men were awarded the Star of Courage and the Medal of the Order of Australia, they have done our country proud.
