From mid-November to late January, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico is a winter stopover for Sandhill Cranes, Snow Geese, and Ross's Geese. Their sound and movements are unforgettable.

Me: It's so hard to count these dratted birds for reports. I know! I'll take a photo so they're not moving around so much. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge: Hold my beer. (Snow geese taking off before dawn yesterday.)
